AI UGC Ads for Shopify: From Product Page to Running Reel
Updated by the UGC Ads team
A Shopify store can make AI UGC ads from the product photos it already has: import the catalog, give the brand a reusable AI host, generate UGC-style reels in creator formats, check them against the real product, label them, and send them to Instagram, Facebook or Meta ads. This guide walks through it with OnPromptAds Brands, the tool we make, but the steps and checks apply to any tool.
What you need before you start
- Clean product photos. One front view in true colour per product is the minimum. Add detail shots for anything with texture, print or stones.
- One hero product. Start with a best seller. You already know it sells, so the test is about the ad, not the product.
- Five hooks. Write them with the UGC hook generator before you generate anything.
- A budget for a fair test. Enough to run three variations side by side for a few days.
Step 1: Import your products
Connect your Shopify store so products, photos and prices come in together. If you only want to test one item, add it by product URL or upload its photos.
Check the import: the right photos, the right variant, the right price. Every ad built later inherits these.
Step 2: Create one AI host for the brand
In Brands, one photo becomes a reusable AI character. Pick a host who matches your buyer: age, style, setting. Then keep them. A recognisable face across a whole collection is a large part of why UGC works.
Rules that save trouble later:
- Use a generated face, or a real person’s face only with their written permission.
- Never give the host a fake backstory as a customer.
Step 3: Write the hook and the script
Pick a format that fits the product:
| Product type | Format to start with | Template |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing | Outfit transition or fit check | Outfit transition |
| Jewellery and accessories | Close-up demo, then styled on the host | Before and after |
| Beauty and skincare | Routine or day in the life | Day in my life |
| Anything new to your audience | Talking-head style review | Talking-head review |
Fill the template with the UGC script generator. It times every beat for 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds.
Step 4: Generate, or remix what is already working
Two ways to get the video:
- Generate in a creator format. Your host plus your product photos become a vertical, UGC-style reel. The examples page shows three made this way: an outfit transition, a lookbook and a street-selfie fit check.
- Remix a trending reel. Viral reel remix takes a reel that is already doing well and rebuilds it for your product: swap the product, replace the person with your AI host or keep the original, and restyle. It writes a brand script for you and gives captions as an .srt file. This is on paid plans (Plus and up). To find reels worth remixing, the free Viral Spy Chrome extension saves trending Instagram reels from hashtags you choose, sorted by views or engagement.
For short product-only clips, Brands also makes 8-second product videos from your photos.
Step 5: Check every frame, then label it
Before anything goes live:
- Product accuracy. Pause on the closest frames. Colour, shape, logo, size, number of stones, print placement. If anything is off, regenerate. A product that looks different from what ships becomes a return.
- Claims. If the script says “lasts all day” or “waterproof”, it has to be true and provable.
- Label it. Add “AI-generated” to the caption or on screen and follow your ad platform’s AI rules. In the US, the FTC’s rule on fake reviews and testimonials covers testimonials from people who do not exist. An AI host can show and style the product; it cannot claim to be a happy customer.

Step 6: Publish and run a fair test
From Brands you can schedule posts to Instagram and Facebook, or launch a Meta ad campaign. TikTok publishing is coming soon; until then, download the video and upload it yourself.
A simple first test:
- Same body, three different hooks, three ads.
- Equal budget, same audience, same dates.
- After a few days, compare the share of people who watched past three seconds and the cost per purchase.
- Keep the winner. Next round, test a new hook or a new format against it.
What it costs
OnPromptAds Brands has a free plan for Shopify stores: 100 credits once, no card needed. Paid plans are Plus at $29, Pro at $99 and Ultra at $249 a month (20% less billed yearly). Credits are spent on images and video; captions, ad copy and store import are included. There is no free trial.
Common mistakes
- Testing on a weak product. If the product does not sell with your current ads, a new format will not fix it.
- A new face every video. You lose the familiarity that makes UGC work.
- Skipping the frame check. One wrong colour in an ad becomes many returns.
- Posing the host as a customer. It breaks the rules and the trust it was meant to borrow.
Next steps
- Compare tools fairly with how to choose an AI UGC tool.
- Selling clothes? Read UGC ads for clothing brands.

Questions people ask
Can I make AI UGC ads for my Shopify store for free?
OnPromptAds Brands has a free plan for Shopify stores: 100 credits once, no card. That is enough to test the workflow on a product or two. Viral reel remix needs a paid plan (Plus, $29 a month, and up).
Do I need product videos to start?
No. Product photos from your Shopify listings are enough. The AI host and the scenes are generated; the product comes from your photos.
Which Shopify products work best for AI UGC?
Products that are worn, held or applied: clothing, jewellery, accessories, beauty. The viewer needs to see the product on a person, which is exactly what an AI host provides.
Can I run these as Meta ads directly?
Yes, in OnPromptAds Brands you can launch Meta ad campaigns from the same workspace, or schedule organic posts to Instagram and Facebook. TikTok publishing is coming soon.
